THE STORY OF BLUSH
We originally purchased Blush when she was 8 weeks old because she was so cute and cuddley, had a great coat of hair, was small, and adult size estimated at 10 inches, and we planned on breeding her.
She quickly became a member of the family, worked her way into our hearts with her sweet attitude and never-ending energy.
On a routine visit to our vet, she was found to have a heart murmur. My vet was concerned and sent us to a specialist. The diagnosis was grim. She has pulmonic stenosis, which is a congenital heart condition. She is not suitable for breeding and her life expectancy is shortened. There was nothing that could be done for her, except IF she weighed over 10 pounds (which she was not likely to reach). Then surgery could be performed which would be very expensive. Otherwise, she could lead a normal life estimated to last 6-8 years, then she would go into congestive heart failure, have major illness or just be playing and running around and drop over dead. We were devastated. I cried all the way home from the specialist - NOT because she could not be bred, but because I had fallen in love with her!
We decided that we will keep her, love her, and let her play happily as long as she can.
She has become a constant companion. She follows us sleeps in the bed, plays with other dogs, has an abundance of energy, and loves to play. She is so smart. She loves everybody! When she goes on outtings with me, people stop me, get kisses from her, then say things like, "I want one of her puppies!" "She is beautiful," and so on. I tell them her story, and they are instantly saddened, I tell them, not to be sad because she brings such happiness to all who know her.
So, in summary, just so you know, she has been spayed and has done well. We will, of course, keep you updated on her, as well as our other beautiful and playful schnauzer babies. surgery.
January 2008 - Happy New Year. Blush is doing very well. She has recovered from her surgery and is still the light of our lives. She is still just as playful as always. She is so Cute! She makes us laugh all the time. We have spoiled her so badly that we are now having to be a little more strict with her - she just thinks she should always come first for everythings, hugs, kisses, petting, etc. She has to learn to wait for her turn and that it is okay for others to gets hugs and pets too. February 2009,To all who ask, Blush continues to thrive and do well. She is a joy to one and all and is spoiled rotten. She goes from sun up to sun down, and then sleeps like a rock, and starts all over again the next day.
January 2009 - Blush is still doing great. She has gone to live with our best friends and their adult schnauzer "Trouble". She is treated like the true princess she is and turly loves her new life.
July 2009 - Blush was 2 in May, but Blush has taken a turn for the worse. She has had three episodes of passing out while outside playing. She was seen by the cardiologist and she cannot have the surgery to fix her heart as she is too weak to undergo this and would probably not survive the surgery. She is now confined to indoors, only goes outside to potty, and then back in. She rests a lot and gets lots of love and attention. She continues to be the special little girl she always has been and she needs all your prayers so she might get better. It is nice and comforting to know that while here, she has thoroughly enjoyed her life. She has had boundless energy, loves everyone and has brought happiness to those around her.
