COPARENT PROGRAM
CO-PARENT PROGRAM

Our Co-Parent Program is going great!  This program allows people who want a dog, perhaps cannot afford the initial costs involved with a puppy, or who want an adult schnauzer to have one.  The following is how the program works:

WHAT WE DO: One of our female dogs (puppies) that we want to use for breeding is placed in your home FREE.  This dog is potty trained to a doggy door and/or puppy pad.  We handle all medical expenses in the upkeep of the dog, i.e., immunizations and Rabies, as well as other medical care. During her pregnancy, we will provide food and grooming.   You will be given a schedule of her approximate heat cycle dates.  When the female dog comes into heat, she is returned to us for breeding (she will usually be in our home for about 10 days to ensure that breeding takes place).  She is then returned to your care for the pregnancy time (approximately 2 months).  Approximately one week prior to her due date, she is returned to our home for delivery of her puppies and stays until her puppies are weaned (Usually 6-8 weeks).  She then comes back to your care.  Approximately one year later, the above cycle continues.  After she had been bred 2-3 times, she will be spayed at our cost, and all registration papers are signed over to you. She does remain in our name, until that time.

WHAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:  During the time the dog is in your care your first and main priority will be to love and care for the dog.  She will be a member of your family.  You will provide food and toys for play.  You will also be responsible for having her groomed.  Our groomer will be glad to do this at a reduced rate if you so desire.  REMEMBER, AFTER SHE HAS BEEN BRED 2-3 TIMES, SHE WILL BE YOUR DOG.

ADVANTAGES:  Should you go on vacation or need a dog sitter during the time you have her, we will provide that for you in our home.  Arrangements should be made as much in advance as possible.   Should you, in the future, desire a puppy to have as a playmate for her, we will offer you a $100 discount on new puppies.

We usually have dogs available for our co-parent program.  This could include either an adult dog, an older puppy (between 4 months to a year old) or a puppy (2-4 months old).  We may occasionally have a male dog to place in a co-parent home.  In this case, he may be called upon more often for breeding purposes, but his time at our house will be less, as he will not need to be here during the pregnancy.   We do retire our females after they have had 2-3 litters, this ensures their health.  When we retire a female who has not been in our co-parent program, they are spayed and are sold at a reduced price.
